DOCKING CHURCH PLACE (west) Lychgate 15 metres south-east of Church of St. Mary the Virgin.

Lychgate. C.1875, perhaps by Frederick Preedy, architect of restoration of Church of St. Mary the Virgin (q.v.). Stone, wood and slate. Rectangular in plan, single storey, gabled roof. High Victorian Gothic. Battered north and south plinth walls. Wooden dado, 3 bays with trefoil wind-bracing, half bay east and west returns. East and west gable arches with trefoil cusps, crown post with struts in apex. Roof with single purlin and trefoil section wind brace struts. Included for group value.
