Description

HIMBLETON CP HIMBLETON SO 95 NW 6/154 Lychgate about 10 yards south-west of the Church of St Mary Magdalene GV II Lychgate. Probably C14, restored late C19. Timber-framed, lias limestone rubble infill at sides, plain tiled roof. Square plan. Gable ends have chamfered arch-braced roof trusses with central broad strut above tie-beam to collar; quatrefoil-panelled bargeboards; cusped arcaded infill above side walls and brattished wall-plates. West gable end has a pair of gates with pierced quatrefoil panels. The lychgate is similar to, and probably con- temporary with, the south porch of the Church (qv).
