Description

Bowbrook is a former barn dating from the 17th century. It is constructed with a timber frame set on a plinth of lias limestone rubble and is weatherboarded with a tiled roof. The barn has three framed bays that are aligned east to west, featuring a central wagon bay with opposing cart entries and double doors.

Inside, there are three rows of panels extending from the sill to the wall-plate, with collar and tie-beam roof trusses. The end trusses have two collars, four struts to the lower collar, three to the upper collar, and a V-strut in the apex. The intermediate trusses include two raking struts and a single collar above, along with two tiers of purlins. This barn is part of a group with Oak House Farmhouse.
