Description

Hall Farmhouse is a farmhouse with origins dating back to around 1600 or earlier, which was partly rebuilt in the early 18th century and remodelled in the late 19th century. The building features a combination of timber framing with painted brick infill on a brick plinth, as well as sections made of brick, including some handmade bricks, all topped with plain tiled roofs.

The timber-framed section consists of two framed bays that are aligned east to west and is a single storey with an attic. The framing includes three rows of panels extending from the sill to the wall-plate, a collar and tie-beam truss in the east gable end supported by two struts to the collar, raking struts in the lower corners, and a V-strut at the apex.

On the main south elevation, there is a tiled verandah that runs the full length of the house, supported by moulded timber posts. The ground floor features a two-light casement window and a half-glazed door. There is a 19th-century lean-to addition at the east gable end, which includes an attic light above.

The rebuilt section of the farmhouse is attached to the west gable end, forming an F-plan layout with the main part aligned north to south and two wings extending to the west. This section is two storeys high and includes a three-course band with a central blue brick cogged course between the storeys. The main east elevation has four bays, with three ground and first-floor three-light casement windows featuring cambered heads. The timber-framed section projects from the fourth bay, and there are two ridge stacks, one located at the rear of the ridge and another at the junction with the south-west wing. The interior has not been inspected.
