Description
Horseshoe Cottage is a house, formerly a public house, dating from the second half of the 18th century. It is constructed of whitewashed Flemish bond brick with yellow washed brick dressings and has an 'L' plan layout. The building is two storeys tall with attics. The south gable facing the road features one ground floor tripartite sash window with glazing bars set under a cambered brick arch, along with two first floor sash windows also with glazing bars. There is a dentil eaves cornice and a wrought iron bracket for a former inn sign attached to the gable. The gable is hipped.
On the west side, there are two irregularly spaced ground floor sash windows and two first floor sash windows, all with glazing bars. There are two 20th-century replacement doors located under original hipped pentice canopies supported by brackets. A flat-roofed dormer with a casement window is present, along with one ridge stack and one stack at the north end. An attached wing to the north has one ground floor sash window and three first floor sash windows with glazing bars. Additionally, there is a single-storey brick wing on the east side that connects with Holland House.
