Description

H.E. Marsh Hardware is a shop built around 1840. It features painted squared stucco on brick with red pantiled roofs. The building has two storeys and presents two distinct shop fronts. The eastern shop front has a 19th-century ground floor window with a central door, framed by an entablature surround with a moulded cornice. Above, there are two first-floor sash windows with glazing bars and margin lights, topped by a hipped roof.

The western shop front is more elaborate, with two outer and two inner piers that have imposts supporting blank arch recesses. This frames a single bay shop window that includes pilasters, flat console brackets, an entablature, and a cornice. The first floor features two outer blank windows with stucco moulded architrave surrounds and a central tripartite window with three plate glass sashes and stucco architraves. The building has a moulded stucco eaves cornice and a hipped roof with a rear gault brick stack. Additionally, the eastern range has a two-storey 'L' plan return, which includes ground and first-floor sash windows with glazing bars and margin lights.
