Description

Manor Cottage is a house dated 1742, which may indicate a refacing and heightening of an earlier galleted structure. The exterior features knapped and galleted flint arranged in courses, with brick dressings and black glazed pantiled roofs. The building has two storeys and seven openings, including three blocked and four open windows. It is thought to have originally been a pre-1700 lobby entrance plan house at the north, later heightened and divided into cottages, and is now occupied in two sections.

On the ground floor, there are four window openings, two blocked doors, and one open door. The north side has two three-light casement cross windows, one central three-light cast iron framed window with glazing bars, and one two-light casement cross window at the south. The south door features an architrave and a 20th-century hipped pentice canopy. The windows on the north are set under flat arches, while those on the south are under cambered arches, all with brick dressings.

On the first floor, there are three casement cross windows, including one cast iron framed window with glazing bars and a two-light casement. There are also three bricked-up windows, each with flush brick rusticated surrounds. The building has brick quoins and an eaves cornice, with swept eaves, one gable at the south end, and one axial stack at the north. The south gable displays pebble flint courses from an earlier roof pitch, with brick tumbling above the existing roof pitch. The north gable features a two-storey canted bow, dating from around 1900, which is pebble dashed and has lead glazing bar windows.
