Description

Calthorpe Cottages comprise a range of four cottages, dating back to the 18th century, which represent a remodelling of a former house. The exterior features rough cast render on brickwork and exposed timber framing, topped by a steeply pitched pantile roof with gable ends. The cottages are two storeys high with an attic space. They have eight irregularly spaced windows, fitted with 20th-century casements of two and three lights. Four 20th-century entrance doors are also present. Two axial stacks, now rebuilt, are symmetrically placed. A full-length lean-to extension runs along the rear. Inside, remnants of 16th and 17th-century carpentry survive, including bridging beams with stepped run-out chamfers.
