Description

This milepost, dating from the mid-19th century, is made of cast iron and was produced by Champness of Cheshunt. It stands approximately 1.2 metres high and has a triangular shape that is open at the back. The front features two faces with slightly recessed panels, displaying raised numbers and Roman-style letters indicating distances: Stevenage 4 and London 27. The design includes a sloping triangular head and a semi-circular top panel.
