Description

This is a milepost located just north of Fulling Mill Lane in Welwyn, dating from the mid-19th century. It is made of cast iron and was created by Champness of Cheshunt. The milepost has a triangular plan and is hollow at the back. It features two shallow panels with raised lettering indicating distances: London 25 miles and Hitchin 9 miles. The top of the milepost is sloping and has a semi-circular back panel.
