Description
This mid-19th century cast iron milepost, made by Champness of Cheshunt, stands about 1.6 meters high. It has a triangular shape with an open back and features two front faces that have slightly recessed panels. The raised numbers and letters are in a Roman style, indicating distances to London (25 miles) and Stevenage (6 miles). The milepost has a sloping triangular head and a semicircular top panel.
