Description

The Old Chequers is a house, formerly an inn, dating to the 17th century and likely earlier. It has a timber-frame structure. The front range, which has a gabled end, is roughcast on brickwork and features 19th-century sash windows with two panes on the first floor. A six-panel door is set beneath a cut bracketed hood. A rear wing, located on the east side, is also roughcast on lath and plaster, with a first-floor sash window band containing glazing bars. An external chimney stack from the 17th century is located at the rear of the front range. A modern, sculpted lead inn sign is fixed to the front angle.
