Description

The Old Cottage is a house that was originally a farmhouse, dating from the 16th and 17th centuries. It features a timber frame and was refaced in the late 19th or early 20th century. The ground floor is made of painted brick, while the upper floor is roughcast. The building has two storeys and consists of two bays, with a single-storey 17th-century wing made of brick and timber frame, along with a one-window extension from around 1960. There are two three-light leaded casements on the ground floor, which have segmental heads. The cottage has gable end chimney stacks. Inside, the far bay retains 16th-century framing, while the near bay features 17th-century elements, including a corridor and staircase turret. The rear elevation includes two gabled dormers.
