Description

Payne’s Farmhouse is a 17th-century timber-frame farmhouse, originally comprising two bays, with an 18th-century extension added to each side. A more modern extension is present on the north-west side. The external walls are constructed of brick nogging, with later red and blue brick forming the ground floor. The south-east side and rear elevations are weatherboarded. A central early chimney stack features oversailing and stepped brick courses. Modern leaded casement windows have been installed. The interior retains a stop-chamfered axial floor beam and early brickwork in the fireplace.
