Description

No 174 on Fishpool Street is an early 19th century red brick front added to an older house, likely from the 17th century. The building has two storeys and an attic, featuring one window. It has a tiled mansard roof with a dormer and a brick eaves cornice. The windows are 3-light sash windows with gauged, shallow segmental brick arches. There is a blank panel on the first floor above the door. Access to the door, which has six panels (four of them fielded) in a panelled reveal, is via three steps. The doorcase is designed with fluted pilasters and a break-front mutule cornice, topped with a similar pediment. This property is part of a group that includes Nos 142 to 174 on the even side of the street.
