Description

The Blue Anchor is a late 18th-century public house, partially restored. It is two storeys high and has four windows. The building is constructed of red brick and features a parapet above a tiled roof of moderate pitch, with a cross-gabled wing at the rear. It has one- and two-light sash windows with glazing bars; the ground-floor windows have been replaced. A brick plinth runs along the base. The recessed front door is within a flat-panelled reveal and has a cornice above it, as well as a patterned fanlight. The doorcase is decorated with fluted columns, a cornice with modillions and dentils, and an enriched open pediment.
