Description
137 Fishpool Street is a late 18th-century front attached to a much earlier house. The building has two storeys and features four windows. It is constructed of red brick and has a parapet in front of a moderately pitched tiled roof. The original casement windows have been replaced with leaded lights set in flush frames, all under gauged, segmental brick arches. The front door consists of six fielded panels and is framed by a doorcase with fluted columns, a cornice decorated with modillions and dentils, and an open pediment that is similarly embellished. Above the door, there is a patterned fanlight set in a reveal with flat panels. Inside, the house dates back to the 16th century and is timber framed, featuring old plank floors and a piece of the original staircase.
