Description

18 Fishpool Street is an 18th-century front applied to a late 16th-century timber-framed house. The property is two storeys high with two windows, constructed of red brick and featuring a parapet and a steeply pitched, tiled roof. It has three-light sash windows with glazing bars, each with a gauged, flat brick arch above. A round-arched, blank recess is centrally placed on the first floor. The central ground-floor doorcase has an open pediment with modillions and dentils, over an order with similar cornices and fluted pilasters. The pilaster abacus is continuous with the cornice head of the door, which has a patterned fanlight within a round-arched, panelled reveal. At the rear is a long, gabled wing of the original timber-framed construction.
