Description

This is a late 18th century building fronting a 17th century structure, located at 52 Fishpool Street. It is joined to number 54 and forms a group with numbers 24 to 46 (even) and 50 to 54 (even). The building is two storeys high with three windows. It is constructed of red brick, with a steep, swept, tiled roof and wood box eaves. The first-floor windows are casements with glazing bars in flush, box frames, set beneath shallow segmental brick arches. The ground-floor sash windows also have glazing bars in flush, moulded frames, with flat brick arches above. A doorcase features an open, pediment-shaped head with a dentil cornice and cut soffit, supported by carved scrolled consoles on panelled pilasters. A blank panel is framed between tiny pilasters with Adam decoration within the pediment. The door has deep panelled reveals, set under a cut and reeded architrave. A weatherboarded rear extension has a hipped, tiled gable.
