Description

Number 50, Fishpool Street is a late 18th-century front applied to a house dating back to around 1600. The building is two storeys high with an attic, and has two windows. The steeply pitched tiled roof is punctuated by gabled dormers, each containing a two-light sash window with glazing bars. The front facade is plastered. The first-floor windows are sash windows with glazing bars, set within slightly projecting, moulded frames. A shallow, canted bay window is present on the ground floor. A carriageway is situated on the right-hand side. Two steps lead to the front door, which has six flat panels, a cut cornice head, and a patterned fanlight. The doorcase features a fluted, breakfront cornice hood with dentils and a cut soffit, supported by an order with a reeded and fluted frieze and panelled pilasters. A narrow, gabled extension is located at the rear. Number 50 forms part of a group with numbers 24 to 46 (even) and 50 to 54 (even).
