Description
No. 15 Leyton Road is a house that now serves as a surgery. It dates from the late 16th century or early 17th century and features a timber frame. The front of the building was altered in the early 19th century, and a southern extension was added in the mid-19th century. The exterior is finished in painted brick, with some exposed timber framing, and it has a plain tile roof. The building has a T-plan layout, with the original house located on the right side of the block.
It is two storeys high and has four windows, with the two on the right being much lower. The right side features triple-hung sash windows on the first floor and a triple casement window on the ground floor. The left extension includes a flush panel door on the right and a canted window bay on the left, along with sash windows on the first floor. The rear of the building has the heaviest framing, where the gable end of a two-bay central range projects at the center. On the southern side, there are twin gabled extensions that may date from the late 17th century. Inside, the building has chamfered floor beams.
