Description
The garden wall, gateposts, and gates enclosing the front garden at Harpenden Hall date from the late 17th century. The wall is made of red brick and surrounds the front garden, being contemporary with the southern part of the house. It features a continuous plinth and has a stepped profile on the southern side, with original battered coping. The wall curves up to meet the gates on the left front. The gate piers are made of rubbed brick and are designed with chamfered rustication, along with moulded brick cornices and stone ball finials. There are plain piers on either side topped with simple scrolls. The wrought iron single gate is flanked by narrow screens, showcasing scrolled work with foliage detail. Additionally, there is a 19th-century overthrow and lamp holder.
