Description

This is a house, now serving as the Royal British Legion Branch Club Headquarters. The main part of the building dates from the 17th century, with significant alterations made in the early to mid-19th century and a later rear extension. The main range is timber-framed and has been covered with a stucco finish. It has a plain tile roof. The front of the house is symmetrical, featuring five windows. It is two storeys high with attics. A two-storey projecting gabled porch is centrally located. There are gabled cross wings at each end, each with a lean-to projection. The porch has an early 19th-century doorcase featuring Tuscan pilasters and an entablature. Single sash windows are positioned on either side of the porch; the ground floors of the wings have triple-hung sashes. The central three windows on the first floor are two-light Yorkshire casements. The first floors of the wings have single sashes. The left-hand attic gable contains a 17th or 18th-century two-light casement with leaded glass, while the right-hand gable has a Yorkshire casement. The rear wing is stuccoed and has a slate roof, with five replacement windows.
