Description

The Cage or Lock-up is a former village lock-up built in the 17th century and restored around 1970. It features a timber frame and a pyramidal slate roof, giving it a roughly cubic shape. The structure has close studded plank and muntin framing with eight studs on each side. The front door, which was originally open behind the studding, is now horizontally boarded and fitted with iron strap hinges. A timber finial adorns the top. The building is also designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
