Description

The Old Post Office is a house dating from the late 17th century, with extensions and alterations made in the 19th century. It is timber-framed and has a pargetted panelled rendering. The steeply pitched thatched roof is half-hipped. Brick, flint, and clunch additions are present, with slate and tile roofs. The main block is three bays wide. It has two storeys and a gable end facing the road. The windows are 19th-century flush-moulded frame margin-pane glazed sashes, with exposed plates. A small first-floor casement is in the right return. A multiform ridge stack is situated towards the front. To the left is a 19th-century former post office outshut, single storey, with a panelled door and a three-light 20th-century lattice casement. Similar casements are at the rear, with an entrance in the rear bay of the main block. An outbuilding, also largely of the 19th century, is located at the rear and is primarily of clunch construction and has a tiled roof. Internally, some exposed framing and chamfered bearers are visible.
