Description

The Cage Village Lock-Up, located on School Lane in Eaton Socon, was built around 1826 and restored in 1963. This single-storey structure is made of red brick, with the upper part patched in gault brick. It features a tiled roof with brick gable coping and a dentil eaves course. The entrance is pointed arched, with a studded boarded door and a wrought iron grill over it. On the west wall, there is a stone plaque that reads, "The Eaton Socon Cage. This ancient lock-up was built in 1826 for the confinement of local malefactors. Restored in 1963 it is now in the care of the Bedfordshire and Huntingdonshire Naturalists Trust."
