Description

The Village Lock-up or Cage is a 17th century or early 18th century building located on the north side of High Road in Orsett. It is a single-storey structure made of black weatherboard and timber framing. The building features small barred windows and a plank door fitted with heavy hinges, topped by a hipped roof covered in plain tiles. Adjacent to the lock-up is a village pound, which is a small enclosure made of split oak rails and posts.
