Description
The Village Lock-up is an early 19th-century structure with an earlier core, located in Stamfordham. It is built from tooled-and-margined ashlar and features a stone slate roof. This small, single-storey building has a rectangular shape and a studded door located in the gable end. Above the door, there are four ventilation slits, with one additional slit on either side of the building. The stone eaves and gabled roof are supported by kneelers.
Inside, the lock-up has a stone roof that is supported by a large square central pier, and chains are attached to the walls.
