NEW STREET BRAINTREE The Cage or lock up

2. Circa 1840. Small one storey red brick lean to structure with flagstone ceiling Plank door studded with large nails. Interior has brick built seat along walls. It apparently remained in use for its original purpose until about 1875 when it became a ammunition store for the 12th Essex Volunteer Rifles.
