Description
22 New Street is a 17th-century building featuring timber-framing with plaster infill and render, topped with plain clay tile roofs. It has a square plan, measuring three bays wide and two and a half storeys high.
The exterior includes a cross-wing at the north end, which has a mansard gable facing the street. On the ground floor, there are a pair of doors, with the central door flanked by pilasters and topped with a moulded cornice. To the right of the door, there is a shallow bay window supported on corbels. The first floor features a 12-pane side-hung casement window and a three-over-three sash window, along with a smaller three-over-three sash window at attic level.
The interior has been refurbished in the 20th century for commercial use, resulting in little visibility of the original timber framing.
