Description
Numbers 74, 74A and the Corn Exchange were built in 1839 and enlarged between 1860 and 1877. The building features a front made of white gault brick, which is now painted on the outer bays and plastered in the center. It is two storeys high with a three-window range and has 20th-century alterations. The front has a parapet and a stucco cornice, divided into three bays by pilasters that extend through both storeys. The central bay projects slightly and is recessed beneath an entablature. The ground floor contains 20th-century shops designed in an 18th-century style at the northeast and southwest ends. This building is included for its group value, as it forms part of a collection of listed buildings from No 68 to No 80 on the southeast side.
