Description
Arnold's Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates back to the 16th century or earlier, with an early 17th-century cross wing on the east side. The exterior is finished in painted roughcast and features a steeply pitched plain tile roof. A tall central ridge chimney stack from the early 17th century is plastered and has five joined square shafts with oversailing upper courses. The left side of the cross wing was likely an open hall. The building is single storey with attics and has an interior with an inserted floor. There is a cross passage on the west side, three 19th-century casement windows, and gabled dormers. The right side has one window and is two storeys with an attic, featuring stop-chamfered beams. A spiral staircase is located behind the stack at the upper level, and there is a projecting 17th-century staircase turret that serves the ground and first floors. At the rear, there is a central projection made of red brick and flint from the 17th century, which has been repaired between the 18th and 20th centuries. All gables are adorned with scalloped bargeboards.
