Description
Roosecote is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century to the early 18th century. It features roughcast over stone and a graduated slate roof, with a T-shaped plan that includes a cross wing on the left. The building has two storeys and an attic, with a window arrangement of 1:3 on the first floor. The cross wing showcases chamfered mullioned windows with hoodmoulds, including a 4-light window on the ground floor, a 3-light window above, and a 2-light window in the attic. The verge overhangs, and a rebuilt stack rises from the left eaves. The main range to the right appears to be a later addition, featuring a door to the right of centre and raised surrounds to 20th-century wooden-mullioned casements of 1, 3, and 2 lights, all beneath a continuous dripcourse. On the first floor, there are projecting stone sills for three casement windows, and a band beneath six gutter blocks. The right end has a corbelled stack with offsets and a tapered shaft. At the rear, there is a large external stack for the cross wing, and the left return of the cross wing also has a 4-light and a 3-light window similar to the front.
Inside, the entrance room has a slate floor and a beamed ceiling. The ground floor of the cross wing includes a cavetto-moulded ashlar fireplace with a bread oven in the recess, along with oak dado panelling of various designs. On the first-floor landing, there are two early 18th-century doors with 6 and 8 panels, featuring planted mouldings. The building has collared principal-rafter trusses, with the truss in the cross wing having a cambered tie beam.
