Description

145 and 147 Salthouse Road are a pair of houses with origins dating back to the late 17th century, which were remodeled in the mid-18th century and have since been altered. The houses are constructed from cement-rendered stone and feature a graduated slate roof. They are two storeys high, with three windows in the first floor of No.145 and two in No.147. There is a rear wing to No.147 on the left, and a 20th-century addition at the back of No.145.

No.147 has a 20th-century part-glazed door beneath a concrete hood supported by shaped concrete brackets, although the brackets are incorrectly oriented. The left window has been altered from its original 17th-century design, now featuring a later sill and lacking mullions. To the right of the door, there is a tall 20th-century casement window set in a stone surround, with a continuous drip mould above. The first floor has projecting sills supporting three 20th-century casements.

No.145 features a 20th-century door set within the original 18th-century architrave, which has a cornice on consoles. The flanking windows and those on the first floor have concrete sills with aluminium casements in thin surrounds. Gutter blocks are present, and the right gable has ashlar copings. There is a rendered end stack on the right, a brick ridge stack on the party wall, and the left end stack has been rebuilt on a broad base. The interiors were not inspected, but a previous listing description notes that No.147 has an old tie-beam roof.
