Description
Roosecote is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century, with a 19th-century wing. It features roughcast over stone and a graduated slate roof. The building has two storeys and an attic, with two windows on the first floor and a two-storey rear wing. A gabled porch encloses a chamfered doorway. To the left, there is a 20th-century casement window, while to the right and on the first floor are intact three-light chamfered-mullion windows with hoodmoulds. The verges are oversailing, indicating that the roof has been replaced, and the end stacks have been rebuilt. On the right side, the ground floor has an altered mullioned window, with the right-hand part and hoodmould still intact. The attic window, also intact, features three lights with a central transom light and a stepped hoodmould. The 19th-century wing to the right has a part-glazed door with an overlight next to a six-pane sash window on each floor, and a tall end stack. Inside, there are remnants of a first-floor fireplace backing onto the 19th-century wing, which has a 17th-century moulded ashlar surround. The original principal-rafter trusses with stud infill are also present.
