Description
Roosecote is a farmhouse dating from the early to mid-17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. The building is roughcast over stone and features a slate roof. It has a T-shaped plan with a crosswing on the right, a wing to the rear left, and a lean-to in the rear angle. The farmhouse is two storeys high with an attic and has a window arrangement of two windows on the first floor and one on the ground floor.
The doorway, located to the right of the main range, has an ashlar surround with moulding that continues around a sunken, round-arched panel on the lintel. There are two 4-light chamfered mullion windows on each floor, both with continuous hoodmoulds. The crosswing features a 19th-century 16-pane sash window on the ground floor, a 16-pane casement window above, and a mullioned 2-light attic window, all of which have 19th-century hoodmoulds. The verge of the roof oversails, and there is a projecting lateral stack on the right of the crosswing, along with a 19th-century stone shaft. The left end of the main range also has a stack with a 19th-century stone shaft. At the rear, there is a corbelled end stack to the wing. On the right return, there is a 3-light mullioned window with a hoodmould and a tall casement window above.
Inside, there is a fireplace bressumer in the rear wing and a small slate stairway to its right. The lounge features a massive spine beam, and the roof has collared principal-rafter trusses.
