Description
Plummer's Farmhouse is a large, timber-framed farmhouse dating from the 16th century, with additions made in the 17th century to create a roughly L-shaped plan. The exterior is white rendered brick and plaster, topped with a steep-pitched plain tile roof. A prominent central chimney stack rises from the roof, constructed of joined square sections of red brick and dating back to the 16th century. The house has two storeys. The gable end facing the road is half-hipped and features a 17th-century lean-to addition on the right side. Four windows face the farmyard, and these are 19th-century casement windows. Two heavily framed bays are positioned to the right of the chimney stack and likely originate from the 16th century. A crosswing, originally on the left side of the stack, probably dates to the 16th century. However, the two bays on the left and one bay to the rear on the left are 17th-century constructions, featuring chamfer-stopped spine beams with run-out stops. These sections have clasped purlin roofs, with the timber framing exposed on the far gable end facing the road. A rear wing includes a 17th-century red brick chimney stack.
