Description

Spring Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates from the 16th century, or possibly earlier, featuring a late 16th or early 17th century cross wing that is set forward to the right side, along with a smaller wing set forward to the left side, creating a U-shaped plan. The building is timber framed and plastered, with a thatched roof and two storeys. It has various casement windows, mostly from the 19th and 20th centuries, but the cross wing retains two original 4-light windows with square mullions on the first floor. There is a modern boarded door at the angle between the main range and the cross wing, leading to an open corner porch. The farmhouse has internal stacks in both the main range and the cross wing, with a 19th century gable end stack in the left hand wing. Inside, there is exposed internal timbering; one ground floor room in the main range features two moulded and crenellated floor beams and a similarly decorated cornice, along with two original arched doorways leading into the cross passage. Additionally, there is a blocked diamond mullion window on the first floor of the left hand wing.
