Description

This is an early 16th-century house in Dennington, located on The Street. It is timber-framed and rendered with plaster, and has a pantiled roof to the front and plain tiled roof to the rear. The house is two storeys high, with a jettied first floor on the left-hand gable end. It has three windows, incorporating two-light and three-light mullion and transom casements. An asymmetrical doorway is sheltered by a 20th-century gabled porch, which frames a boarded door. An internal stack is present. Inside, a mutilated moulded floor beam is visible on the ground floor, with the moulding continuing down the wall posts. There is also an arched head to the original front doorway, now blocked, along with a newel staircase. The roof is a simple crown post design. It is thought the house may have originally extended further north.
