Description

Park Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates from the 16th century or earlier, with a late 16th or early 17th century cross-wing to the left, which was altered in the mid to late 18th century. The main range is constructed of knapped flint with some brick, and the south front is plastered. The right side features a crowstepped brick gable end. The cross-wing is made of red brick, with a plastered rear gable, and the building has a thatched roof. The main range is one and a half storeys high, while the cross-wing has two storeys and an attic.

The windows are small-paned casements, and there are two dormers. The entry is through a cross-passage with an original moulded doorframe featuring a 4-centre arched head and a plank door. There is an internal stack at the junction with the cross-wing and a small gable stack to the right. The crowstepped gable includes two 3-light mullion and transom windows made of stone at the first floor level.

At the rear, there are signs of significant alterations, including a 3-light ovolo-moulded mullion and transom window and one gabled dormer. The cross-wing retains an unaltered range of three flush-frame sash windows under flat brick arches with raised keys. The hall, which has been divided by later partitions, features a 3-bay ceiling that may have been inserted, with roll-moulding on the floorbeams and cornice. The ends of the floorbeams are visible in the rear wall, and there are two well-crafted moulded doorframes. In the cross-wing, there is a section of turned balustrading from an early 17th century staircase, along with a moulded newel post.
