Description

Old Mill Cottage is a house that was formerly two dwellings, dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. It features a timber frame that is weatherboarded and roughcast, topped with a thatched roof. Originally, it consisted of two contiguous two-cell lobby entries and is now one storey with an attic. The original doors have been blocked, leaving a single entrance at the center. The cottage has 20th-century casement windows with two and three lights, flush frames, and leaded lights, along with weatherboarding below the sill level. There are four leaded dormer windows with thatched eyebrows. The cottage has two ridge stacks. The right gable end facing the road has a ground floor two-light and a first floor single-light casement window set in a steeply pitched roof. At the back, there is an original continuous lean-to outshut under a catslide roof, which includes two 20th-century entrances. The left end has a hipped roof over a 20th-century addition that features an open ground floor and a first floor balcony supported by timber.
