Description

Blarney Hollow is a house dating back to the 17th century, with a 20th-century extension. The house has a timber frame construction set on a brick base, with rendered walls and a thatched roof. It originally comprised two rooms arranged in a lobby-entry plan. The house is one storey high with an attic. The front facade features a central plank door flanked by two-light casement windows with leaded lights, set in flush timber frames. The attic has similar casements with tiles below the sills, concealed by eyebrow-shaped thatching. A central ridge stack runs across the roof. The left side of the roof is steeply pitched, showing exposed purlins, with an attic window. To the right, the house was extended in the 20th century with two additional bays, projecting forward and having a higher ridge and a gentler roof pitch. A further projecting building, at a right angle to the main house, was added in the 18th or 19th century. This single-storey outbuilding, now attached to the main house, has weatherboarded gable ends. The group value context acknowledges its architectural and historical significance.
