Description

The Moon and Stars Public House is a building that originated in the 17th century and was largely rebuilt in the 18th century. It was formerly two dwellings and features a timber frame with brick construction, weatherboarding, rendering, and roughcasting. The building has a tiled roof and stands two stories tall with three broad bays.

The front of the building has three entrances: a central panelled door set in an architrave with a bracketed pedimental hood, a six-fielded panelled door to the right with an architrave and bracketed hood, and a plank door to the left also with an architrave and bracketed hood. On the ground floor, there are four windows, including two two-light flush frame timber casements with glazing bars and one three-light casement to the left, with weatherboarding below the sill level. The first floor features three two-light casements.

The building has 18th-century end stacks, and the gable ends show outlines of stacks with offsets, which may indicate an earlier, more steeply pitched roof. Exposed plates and purlins are visible, and there is a continuous lean-to rear outshut with a catslide roof. The rear of the building has two entrances, one with a two-light casement and another with a three-light casement.
