Description
The Rose and Thistle Public House is a building that dates back to the 17th century, was rebuilt in the 18th century, and extended in the 19th century. It features a core made of timber-frame, with a rendered cob exterior on a brick plinth and a thatched roof. The structure is two stories high and consists of three bays, including a smoke bay from the 17th century. An additional bay was added to the left side, and two more bays were added to the right side. The front of the building has a blank left-hand bay, a 20th-century door in the central 17th-century bay, and another door in the smoke bay. There is a five-light casement window next to the central door, while the other 17th-century bays have projecting ground floors with tiled offsets and two-light windows. The right-hand added bay is blank, and there is a camber-headed two-light casement window in the bay next to it. The first floor has two-light casements, and the roof is hipped with a ridge piece. There are stacks above the smoke bay, at the inner hand end of the 17th-century building, and between the right-hand added bays.
