Description
West Hayes is a house located in Rockbourne, dating from the 18th century with several builds and some 19th-century elements. It is constructed of brick, part of which is painted, and features a plain tile roof. The building has a three-bay, two-storey range along the road, with an outshot at the rear. At one end, there is a taller half-hipped one-bay block. Behind this and one bay of the first range is a two-bay double pile wing with a hip roof.
The road-facing front has a taller bay on the left-hand side, with a door in the bay next to it and a lean-to on the right-hand bay. It features two-light casements and a stack on the ridge between the door bay and the next bay. The garden front, which is taller, has three bays and a half-hipped gable on the right-hand side, featuring a French window and a 12-pane sash window. The other windows are also 12-pane sashes, except for a 19th-century canted bay on the left-hand side. The building is included for its group value.
