Description
Foxhall Cottage is a house that likely started as two dwellings. It dates from the 16th century, was floored and heated in the 17th century, and underwent extensions in the 18th or 19th centuries, with further alterations in the 20th century. The building features a timber frame with some flint additions, all covered in roughcast, and has a steeply pitched thatched roof. Originally, it had a two-bay open hall, with a stack inserted later and two additional bays added to the right in the 18th and 20th centuries. The cottage has one storey and an attic, with the entrance located in the left bay. It includes 20th-century casements with one, two, and three lights, and three two-light dormers with thatched hoods. A straight joint is visible at the right end of the original building, and there are two ridge stacks between the bays, both with rebuilt caps. The gable end faces the road and has a one-bay low outbuilding attached. Inside, the cottage features an exposed frame with bracing, stop-chamfered bearers and joists, and stairs located behind the earlier stack.
