Description

Inglenook is a house dating from the early to mid 17th century, with extensions added in the 18th or 19th century and alterations made in the 20th century. The house is timber-framed and rendered, with a thatched roof. It originally comprised two rooms arranged in a lobby entry plan. The house is mainly one storey high with an attic, although a central projection is two storeys tall. A central entrance is incorporated into this later projection, which has a gable bearing a false date of 1606. A 20th-century rectangular bay window is located on the right side. Other windows are 20th-century casements. A central ridge stack has a rebuilt cap. The left end of the house, facing the road, is half-hipped. The right end displays exposed purlins, and a single-storey, 20th-century outshut is attached. Lean-to additions are present at the rear, along with a bakehouse behind the stack, which has a slate roof. A catslide roof covers the lean-to to the left. Inside, the house features chamfered bearer and joists, an inglenook fireplace, and exposed timber framing.
