Description

The War Memorial, located at the junction with School Lane in Bushey, was constructed in 1922 by Sir W. Reid Dick. It is made of ashlar and features massive blocks that step up from the base and project towards the center front. The memorial slightly tapers as it rises to the top. At its center stands a virtually free-standing female figure with a downcast gaze; one hand is placed on her chin while the other holds a wreath. The dates 1914 and 1918 are carved in relief on either side of the figure, and the names of the war dead are inscribed on the rear.
