Description

Fern Cottage is a building that was originally a barn, likely dating from the early 17th century. It was converted into a house by the mid-19th century and has undergone alterations in the 20th century. The structure features a timber frame that is rendered, with a tiled roof. It consists of two bays and is one storey with an attic. The gable end faces the road and includes a three-light ground floor casement window, along with a 20th-century casement window in the gable. On the left side, there is a small two-light window beneath a gabled dormer. The entrance is located in a porch addition towards the rear, and further back is another three-light casement window. The right side has a small 19th-century external stack and one gabled dormer. At the rear gable end, there is a cross axial stack that is weatherboarded, and the building has been extended to the rear. The interior has not been inspected.
