Description
Nos. 7 and 9 Sparrows Herne is a house, now divided into two dwellings, dating from the early to mid 17th century. It was divided and encased in early 19th century. The building features a timber frame with whitewashed brick casing and a tiled roof. It has a four-bay lobby entry design and stands two storeys tall.
On the ground floor, the original entrance has been blocked, and there are new entrances at either end with segmental heads. The entrance to No. 7 has a raking hood. There are two 24-pane horizontal sliding sash windows with gauged brick segmental heads. The first floor contains four 12-pane horizontal sliding sash windows, and there are dentilled brick eaves. A central cross axial ridge stack is present, and the left return is rendered. At the rear, there are lean-to outshuts.
Inside, there are stop-chamfered binding beams, with a carved date of 1675 on the beam in No. 7.
